Sillicate drilling fluids are water based products, and their performance is comparable to that of oil based muds. Recent developments and improvement in applications technologies for water based systems have tremendously improved the overall performance of silicate based systems. Silicate based systems offer excellent well bore stability and higher ROP’s when compared with alternate systems. In addition, they are easy to use, safe to handle and are environmentally friendly.
